What Missed Connection Covers
Missed Connection coverage applies when the cancellation or delay of your flight causes you to miss the departure of your cruise, tour or other trip. This benefit can cover:
- additional transportation expenses to catch up with your cruise or tour
- accommodations
- meals
- non-refundable payments for the unused portion of your cruise or tour
Minimum required delay is 3 hours on the Worldwide Trip Protector Gold and Worldwide Trip Protector plans and 6 hours on the Trip Protector Lite Expanded plan. Missed Connection/Itinerary Change coverage is not included in the Trip Protector Lite plan.
Coverage does not apply if you choose not to travel due to inclement weather but would otherwise be able to meet your scheduled departure.
What Itinerary Change Covers
Our Worldwide Trip Protector, Worldwide Trip Protector Gold and Trip Protector Lite Expanded travel insurance plans offer an Itinerary Change benefit that specifically covers pre-paid, non-refundable, non-rescheduled shore activities in a port of call, or a scheduled stop on a tour itinerary that you miss due to a change of cruise or tour itinerary.
Such disruptions may be due to storms, outbreaks of illness, or safety issues, and can apply to activities including concerts, a private guide, spectator sports events, participation sports sessions, training classes, cooking displays, nature adventures, art and culture events, or other add-on activities that may not be refunded, especially by tour companies that are independent of the cruise line or main tour operator.
